The unexpected expatriate blogger behind Green Haven Bloom

Hey, I'm Sophie
I'm a project manager, a parent, and an expat based in Zurich, Switzerland.
Some years back I moved here with my family. A short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter living overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Switzerland wasn't part of the long-range plan. As with many expatriate relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far larger.
The opening months were demanding — unfamiliar processes, routines, and expectations. Everyday chores seemed more tangled than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of hands-on learning. Over time, routines took shape. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began shaping something that felt steady.
Why I Built Green Haven Bloom
Most online resources were either corporate relocation guidance or superficial tourism material. What was lacking was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Switzerland.
What This Site Covers (And What It Doesn't)
This site is:
- Practical insights from living in Switzerland
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated whenever a real change occurs
This site is not:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our time in Switzerland continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Zurich or anywhere in Switzerland, please feel free to contact us.
